DOLL #23 - Armand Marseille
This charming 13-inch German character doll, attributed to Armand Marseille, dates from approximately 1915–1930 and bears the markings 251 G.B. Germany A.3/0.M. D.R.G.M. 248/1. Her bright blue sleep eyes, open mouth, and expressive childlike face give her a warm personality that helped make character dolls popular during the early twentieth century. She is dressed in a vibrant red printed cotton dress with matching straw hat and floral trim.
The doll remains in good antique condition with some wear visible on the hands, consistent with age and handling. Her replacement clothing suits the period style nicely and presents well for display. Family records indicate a purchase price of approximately $330 on eBay in 2011, making her one of the more affordable yet highly appealing character dolls in the collection.
