DOLL #7 - Antique Bisque Bébé
Antique Bisque Bébé Doll in Burgundy Velvet and Lace
This elegant 16.5-inch antique bisque bébé doll features striking blue glass sleep eyes, finely painted brows and lashes, rosy cheeks, and a delicately closed mouth. She wears a richly colored burgundy velvet dress accented with cream lace trim, a satin waistband, and matching bonnet. Her long dark brown wig falls in loose curls down her back, complementing the doll's refined Victorian-era appearance.
The doll retains an attractive presentation with period-style clothing, original-style stockings, and dark shoes. Signs of age and wear are visible on the hands, while the composition and wooden body also show expected wear consistent with an antique doll. The head appears exceptionally well preserved and presents beautifully.
Family records attribute this doll to French maker Etienne Denamur and date it to the 1880s, though that attribution has not been independently verified for this catalog. Documentation indicates the doll was purchased on eBay in 2014 for approximately $2,700.
